Jesus' birth location – Where was Jesus born?

Bethlehem was Jesus’ birth location. It was predicted hundreds of years before in the Bible book of Micah: "‘But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times’" (Micah 5:2).

Matthew 2:1 records Jesus’ birth location: "After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. . ."

The town of Bethlehem is a small town located 5 or 6 miles south of Jerusalem. In Old Testament times, Bethlehem was called "Ephrathah."

Jesus' birth location was in stable, a farm building for housing horses or other livestock. Jesus’ parents didn’t intend to stay the night in a stable, but they found no room in the inn. So they set up primitive lodgings in a stable. There Mary gave birth to Jesus in a manger or stall.

Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, the home of the house of King David from which Joseph was descended, fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah. This is confirmed to Mary by a visit from angels and shepherds.
