Jesus Teachings –Who Jesus Is and His Mission
Jesus’ teachings often focused on who He is as a person and why He came to earth:

  • To Demonstrate God’s Love - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (Quote of Jesus, recorded in John 3:16-17).

  • To Bring Good News - "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor” (Jesus describes himself by quoting Isaiah, as recorded by Luke 4:18-19).

  • To Sacrifice Himself for Others - "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Jesus quoted by Matthew 20:28).

  • To Be a Source of Abundant Life - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." - (Jesus quoted by John 10:10).

  • To Help People Understand the Kingdom of God - "But he said, ‘I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.’" - (Jesus quoted by Luke 4:43).

Jesus Teachings – His Message to You
Jesus’ teachings were focused on you. He often spoke directly to mankind with very important messages:

  • God Loves You - "Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love" (Jesus, as recorded in John 15:9).

  • Love One Another - "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another" (Jesus said this in John 13:34-35).

  • You Are Valuable - "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?" (Jesus, in Matthew 6:26)

  • As for Forgiveness - "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem" (Jesus, in Luke 24:46-47).

Jesus Teachings – Principles for Life
Jesus’ teachings were very practical, even 2000 years later:

  • Charity, not Greed - "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me" (Mark 10:21).

  • God will Meet Your Needs - "So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today" (Matthew 6:34).

  • Humility is a Virtue - "Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:4).
