Jesus as Forsaking Riches/Material Possessions
Jesus wants everyone enjoy his riches and Glory. He doesn't want people live in poverty and misery he went to the cross so that we could enjoy a blessing. But we should know how to be his true disciples by meditating on his words not let our souls to drift away from him fall to the devils traps.

Storing Up Treasures in Heaven
It's important to realize that Jesus doesn't advocate a poverty mentality. Rather, Jesus encourages us to pursue riches. Yet, He offers us wisdom in the pursuit of riches. He advises us not to store up treasures here on the earth whether they rust, break and can get stolen. Instead, we are wise to store up our riches in heaven where they will remain with us throughout all of eternity.

My point is that Jesus doesn't focus on making choices of suffering for suffering's sake. Rather, we make sacrifices to give up one thing in order to receive another. Some people make the mistake of focusing on suffering as an end unto itself and Jesus never advocates this lifestyle.

He is focused on us finding the source for true wealth and life. He is the only true source. He wants us to enjoy the very best life has to offer. But, it does come down to a matter of choice. We can't necessarily have the best this life has to offer while at the same time storing up for ourselves the treasures offered by heaven. When given a choice, storing up eternity treasures yields much better eternal reward.

Things I want

Sometimes we ask God for things and if he doesn't deliver right away, we start questioning whether God really understands or even cares. Do we really trust God? Do we trust that God is good and sees a bigger picture than we ever could? It's easy to want what's right in front of us, but maybe God knows what's better for us, and sometimes we just can't see it.

Material Things
They have no real value. Jesus did not require much. He did not hold on to material things. He did not have his own house and when his ministry began he did not even stay at home with his parents. He lived amongst the people and walked from place to place. His teachings were most important to him. It was about others and he did not represent material riches. He said that it would be harder for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God than a camel to get through an eye of a needle.  That is serious. There are too many in need for others to have too much and not even be able to use what they have. Jesus said "that which you do to unto the least of my brothers that you do unto me".

Agree, but some questions

I definitely agree that greed is quite a rampant sin in the modern world. But where is the line one draws? Is it greed to want to have a decent house, car and clothes? Is it greed to want cable Internet instead of dialup?

Should we all sell our homes and cars and go live as beggars in the street?

Homeless
Jesus comes across as having a sense of homelessness. Kinda, not belonging in any one physical place. [I] have nowhere to lay [my] head Luke 9:57-48. He surely had a home to go to back at his mum`s if he needed to. So this sense of homelessness is most likely to be an feeling of not really feeling at home on earth and that Jesus really belonged in with his father God in heaven.

Greed
I am challenged. A film I watched last night promoted the value of greed to make big business, but Jesus firmly says its a sin.

The devil took Him to a very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory; and he said to Jesus, "All these things will I give You, if You fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only." ( Matthew 4:8-10)

And as they were going along the road, someone said to Him, "I will follow You wherever You go." And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." ( Luke 9:57-58)

And He instructed His disciples that they should take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belt; but to wear sandals; and He added, "Do not put on two tunics." ( Mark 6:8-9)

The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?" Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." ( Matthew 19:20)

Jesus said, "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches." Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things, and they were scoffing at Him And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God." ( Luke 16:13-15)

And someone in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me." But He said to him, "Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbiter over you?" And He said to them, "Beware and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions." ( Luke 12:13-15)
