Did Jesus express sorrow?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus expressed sorrow many times and in many ways.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, before Jesus was taken to be tried and then crucified, He sweat drops of blood. This was from heartbreak and sorrow. Jesus was sorrowful over the state of mankind and over the price He would pay to save mankind.

When one of Jesus’s closest friends, Lazarus, died, Jesus wept for sorrow– partly for Lazarus’s family, but also because the people did not trust Jesus to intervene (see the Gospel of John, chapter 11).

Did Jesus express anger?

The New Testament Bible depicts an episode when Jesus demonstrated anger  in the temple. Jesus became very angry upon seeing many money changers in the temple-- a place normally associated with worship and praying to God.

The people were using the temple as a place to make money. (They were also cheating by giving people back less in the exchange of currency.) Jesus anger was so great that He took a whip and lashed it, scattering the crowd. Jesus’s anger was righteous reflecting the Father’s desire to see His house used for prayer not for unjust and lucrative gain.

The biographies of Jesus in the New Testament depict Jesus displaying His anger for good cause:

Did Jesus express love?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus was love incarnate (in human form). We see that Jesus expressed love to every sector of the human race.  We see in the Gospels that Jesus was often with children and desired that they be loved and considered.

In the New Testament Gospel of John, chapter 11, the Bible records “Jesus wept.” This is the shortest verse in the Bible and shows Jesus love for the people.

When one of Jesus’s closest friends, Lazarus, died,  Jesus showed compassion for Lazarus’s family; He resurrected Lazarus (see the Gospel of John, chapter 11).

Jesus’s nature expressed love because He reflected the nature of His father.

According to I John 4:8 in the New Testament God is Love. Since Jesus was one with God the Father, He too was love and His nature expresses love.

According to the New Testament Gospel of John chapter 8, when some Jewish leaders wanted to stone to death an adulterous woman, Jesus, showed love to her and said,  “ I do not condemn you, go and sin no more”.

How often did Jesus pray?

The New Testament Bible does not record precisely how many times Jesus prayed but in a sense He prayed all the time. He prayed every day. He probably prayed every moment within His heart since He chose to remain dependant on the Father.

In the New Testament Gospels, we see Jesus praying often – day and night, and sometimes all through the night. He would pray everywhere He went. He spoke to His Father in prayer about everything. He was obedient to His Father and heard His Father’s will by seeking Him in prayer.

Did Jesus encourage free love?

Jesus did not encourage free love. On the contrary, He discouraged and did not condone it.

According to the sayings of Jesus found in the New Testament Bible, with regard to sexual behavior, Jesus encouraged marriage and did not endorse people living together without the commitment of legal marriage.

Jesus always encouraged commitment and responsibility in relations – which supports the idea of marriage and fidelity.

Did Jesus forbid war?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus neither forbad nor condoned war.

Jesus came to free man from sin. War is caused by sin. Jesus came to reveal sin so that men could be saved and live in harmony. But Jesus also claimed that His radical sayings would bring division among men because some would not believe them. He came to bring peace within, knowing that on this earth there would be trouble without.
