THE NEW COVENANT
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

What is Love
Jesus was saying that we are to love each other like he loves us. We can't be christians and not love our brothers and sisters. Jesus also was saying that if we denied him he will denine us in front of the father. We are here to be disciples to carry on the Lord work and word. Not to do the things that we want to do

Jesus` followers will forgive and accept one another.
Even if it seems that you do not do it.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
This is really an extension, or summary, of the original ten commandments, as delivered by Moses, not so much a new commandment. With love for one another, all the original commandments would be fufilled automatically.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
Jesus mission on earth was to reveal the Father to the whole world, yet the jewish world at that time was under the domain of the Law and the Prophets. His mission was reaching the climax, and Jesus had started preparing his disciples for- life after him. He needed to cement the law of love into their hearts and minds. The law of love entailed several dimensions: Loving one another, loving the evil and ungrateful, the master becoming the servant, doing first by example before demanding that others do to you, etc. Jesus knew well that the rest of his world ministry would now have to depend on the Disciples, that is why he issued them the new commandment to love one another. In this way, the world would know that the disciples belong to jesus. It was like giving his followers a new uniform, the color of love.

Why did Jesus invest so much in Peter even though He knew that Peter would deny Him?
I believe Jesus dearly loved Peter and that He knew Peter better than Peter knew himself. He knew He would have to die before Peter could die for Him. He also knew the strength and power of forgiveness - how much more Peter would realize Jesus` love for him when He forgave Peter for denying Him and asked Peter later three times, `Do you love me?` ''John 21:15-19''. I think this must have sealed the deal in Peter`s heart! And we know that Peter went on to do many marvelous things that glorified God and brought light to sinners helping them find salvation in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Jesus knew that after him Peter will be a strong member who will make the word and the reality of Jesus coming to the world spread to the whole world.

Why did Jesus invest so much in Peter even though He knew that Peter would deny Him?
Because he knows the strenght of his love and trust Faith. He is the only one who dared leaving the boat and walk on water. It is also a strong example for us all that encourages us. Like with Paul later on. God forgives always - double triple... 7 times 77. We must always have faith and get back on our feet holding Jesus hand. Life can be troubled and our legs shaky and our steps insecure but God is always there to guide us. All thsi he knew when peter looked straight into his eyes.

Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately. Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you can't come,' so now I tell you. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?"
Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you can't follow now, but you will follow afterwards."
Peter said to him, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."
Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for me? Most certainly I tell you, the rooster won't crow until you have denied me three times.
