Jesus states that the house is a house of prayer but not the den of robbers. It is applicable today in the churches where the priests pray for a pay.

Praying is the chore function of the temple not merchandising making money. He sends the merchants out. In the temple - our mountain of prayer - we connect all the more with the Lord. Hear His word and talk to Him. Anything we do has to be God centered. It`s a place for Dialogue either by ourselves or when we join as a Family for the Lord`s Supper and remembrance of His Sacrifice - streghtening the bond as one Body - whose members collaborate to the common good and don`t rob each other. Priests should be the first examples and that`s why - being them Jesus on earth - Jesus scolds them so harshly. There it`s a different albeit still corporate business.

Jesus at the Temple

He entered into the temple, and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it, saying to them, "It is written, 'My house is a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of robbers'!"
He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him. They couldn't find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
