I believe that Jesus had just use the man to get his healing power out to the people who didn't know him. The healing was to great for the man to keep to himself.

Trying to Follow Jesus

The more I study the Bible (and I feel Blessed that I found this site!) I feel the grace that Jesus gave us because I know that I couldn't touch a leper even though I was a Hospice social worker.

Once a person with cancer told me that one of the nicest things I did was to touch her without rubber gloves on.  It still makes me cry to think how following Jesus' way could make so people feel better about themselves.

Am I compassionate?

I have a very compassionate heart, others needs and concerns and problems come first. If my loved ones are okay, than I am okay. My career is in long term health care, I have much compassion for the elderly and my goals are to improve their quality of life. I have animals that I love and take care of. I wish I could take away the pain of others and even sometimes myself with the gift of healing, but maybe with enough love and faith we will be healed.

Amen!

Compassion
The leper comes up to Jesus and begs to be cleansed. He shows his faith in the words 'If you want to, you can make me clean'. Out of his compassion, Jesus cleanses him not only of leprosy, but also of all his sins. Being of one spirit with God, Jesus knew that the leper would not follow his instructions, and he went forth telling others of Jesus' compassion in cleansing him. Jesus did not show the wrath, of which he surely was capable against this man, but went on healing and cleansing people, forgiving them for their past sins.

Jesus shows compassion and heals the leper
Jesus first heals the leper, unconditionally, and then asks that he show his cleanliness to the priest, and to offer to the priest the commandments of Moses, that he may teach the true way of the Lord

What is compassion, and do you possess it?
Compassion is feeling the pain of others, and wanting to do something to relieve that pain. Similar to sympathy, but compassion involves more of a willingness to help another person in need. I can be compassionate, and do what I can, but I know that there is much room for improvement on my part. Jesus was compassionate with everyone, healing the sick refreshing the spirits of many. I hope to learn more of Jesus` compassion by taking this course.

What is compassion, and do you possess it?
Compassion is defined as a deep awareness of the suffering of another and the wish to relieve that suffering. I believe a compassionate nature is a gift from God and I am blessed.

A Man With Leprosy

A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, "If you want to, you can make me clean."
Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, "I want to. Be made clean." When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean. He strictly warned him, and immediately sent him out, and said to him, "See you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."
But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places: and they came to him from everywhere.
