How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
If they carried along their material possessions, they would look to it, and this would distract their dependence upon God as the sole provider for all their needs. They learnt to trust in Jesus, and to lean on him, and were very effective and successful. They preached, cast out demons, and healed many. I hope our modern church leaders learn from this.

How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
Jesus equip the disciples by disseminating them from wordly materials which will not allow them to the do the will of God. By putting-on all what is of the world, their mind will surely be upon what they possessed and not HE ''Christ'' who send them out to do the job of repentance.

How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
Jesus equip his disciples with faith but not material things. He wanted to keep our lives free from the love of money and be content with what we have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. . So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. Jesus wanted his disciples to preach God almighty power

JESUS Sends Out the Twelve

When JESUS sent out the twelve deciples HE sent them out without any thing of value or materialisted items.  HE sent them to preach GOD'S WORD of repentance and healing the sick, and casting out evil spirits.  Their main objective was GODS work not having to keep up with neccesities things that will weigh you down.  Their mission was to let others know about GOD and all that they can receive if they only believe and follow JESUS.

Why 12?
Not 24 or any other even number as they had to go out two by two. Then.To help each other. Originally though they were 13 because of Judas who betrayed Jesus..but then he was replaced. Maybe am gettingh my maths totally mixed up so ignore. Also true that if 13 all together, then Jesus went to Heaven so they were left to twelve and anyway they were meant to multiply and they are far more than 12 now. Even then you needed enough to keep the word spreading as many died martyrised. They had to call as many if each called another twelve...the number would have dramatically increased. So it could be a call a reminder of faithfulness: sent out in teams of two do not betray the other liked Judas did. Why thne 12 and not lets say 16? Because Jesus started preaching in the temple aged 12 so as none of them was a shepard or in any way connected by family blood links to the Pharisees...it was maybe a form of encouragemnet. You have my teaching via the Father who spoke via me even when i was at the onset of my adolscence late childhood. You are men. The basket makes you also think of Moses abandoned to the currents of the river and yet never abandoned but guided to the mission God had reserved for him.And even Jesus who was the High Shepard was the carpenter son of a carpenter: he had to build the Church of which he was the cornerstone. In the midddle of the arch the gateway to Heaven. Anything to do with bricklaying rules in the sense that the other sides have to be harmoniously made of an equal number of stones? 6 on each side...a Christ centered countering to 66 the number of the beast?

How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
Their material possessions would not give them the strength they would be given by their absolute faith in Jesus and in God`s power to provide for them.

How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
The material possessions would be more of a distraction to them than a help to preach the Word. Jesus also allowed space for people to receive Blessings. For whoever welcome a tired visitor, feed him and give him to drink receives a Blessing for their home and family. They had no load on their backs to carry which made it easier for them to stay anywhere and to walk longer distances.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

He went around the villages teaching. He called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse, but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics. He said to them, "Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there. Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!"
They went out and preached that people should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.
