Why didn`t Jesus want his disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?
Jesus knew His disciples would need more time with Him in order to be strong enough on their own to spread His Word. They needed more instruction and more faith before facing unbelievers and the enemies of Christ. By: Patty - May 10, 2007 - Public Category: Peter`s Confession of Christ

Why didn`t Jesus want his disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?
This passage teaches that we must discover Christ for ourselves; it is a personal relationship, not a communal relationship. The real question is, "YOU - who do YOU think I am?" Being a Christian does not consist in knowing about Jesus (even Satan knows about Jesus), it consists in knowing Jesus. By: Alaskantrue - May 11, 2008 - Public Category: Peter`s Confession of Christ

Seek yee first the kingdom of God and the rest shall be given unto you. We should go out there to look for Jesus and not to sit down and expecting that someone would come to tell us who is JESUS. We need to know who is JESUS! By: Fasakin Adebayo Joseph - May 11, 2008 - Public Category: Peter`s Confession of Christ

Jesus didn't want His disciples to tell others that He was the Christ because it was the heavenly secret and the time was not due yet for the world to know Him, for Him to die for us the sinners. By: Allen Yong - May 11, 2008 - Public Category: Peter`s Confession of Christ

Why didn`t Jesus want his disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?
I think that Jesus wanted the people of Caesarea Philippi to have faith in God. To trust that Jesus is delivering the word of God, and for them to form their own opinion of Him with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit; just as Simon Peter had done.

Why didn`t Jesus want his disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?
Jesus did not allow the disciple to tell others that He is the Christ because He wanted the Heavenly father to reaveal about Him to others as He did to Simon Bar Jonah. He knew the mind of people that if they know that the Christ has come, the betrayers will come quickly and kill Him before His time. He did not disire a premature death which will yealed nothing at the end. Jesus is the Lord of time and He waited at the appointed time to let the people know the He is the Christ. Why didn`t Jesus want his disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?
Jesus told the disciples not to tell others who He was because it was not yet time for his death and if the priests found out that He was Jesus or was claiming to be Jesus it would provoke them to want to kill Him before it was time. Not that God, didn't control the whole situation anyways but I still think that is why Jesus said that.

B/C that's the work of the holy spirit...He is the one who will reveal to us who christ is and who the Father is. So its too uncertain for them to know without the Cross...Like Peter.

Now when Jesus came into the
parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" They said, "Some
say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the
prophets."
He said to them,
"But who do you say that I am?" SimonPeter answered,
"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus answered him,
"Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and
blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
I also tell you that you
are Peter, and on this rock I will
build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not
prevail against it. I
will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind
on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth
will have been released in heaven." Then he charged the disciples
that they should tell no one that he is Jesus the Christ.
