Why do you think Peter was so emphatic and yet so wrong about denying Jesus?
Peter underestimated the prosecution that was to follow, and the weakness that they had .They would need the Holy spirit to strengthen and give them the ability to withstand the pressures and pursuit to come

Why do you think Peter was so emphatic and yet so wrong about denying Jesus?
Well Peter seem to be un-afraid at that time and thought he could handle any thing on his own. But once they captured Jesus and his disciples left him because of the fear over took them. As it was written about this in the Bible. Even after Peter denied Jesus three times he was forgiven by our Lord and Savior. Because we are his sheep and he is our Shepherd. Praise the Lord!

In the eyes of Lord we are all kids that takes time to become mature, so was Peter. It`s unavoidable for a kid to make mistake. The important thing is we should know our mistake and should correct it and follow the instruction of Lord life long.

To what extent, do we, as believers in the Holy Scriptures, put ourselves, rather than God, in situations in which we are partakers?

Why do you think Peter was so emphatic and yet so wrong about denying Jesus?
I think Simon Peter also had the problem of the sadducees-ie; they did not understand the scripture, or the power of it. Jesus was quoting to them prophetic scriptures, and indicating that it shall come to pass in him in relation to them: ie, the shepherd and the sheep of the flock. Peter, like most Gallileans, was too quick to speak out his independent mind. Peter, and indeed all the other disciples, were so natural, and not spiritual, not believing in the fulfilment of that prophesy. I also think Peter was emotionally excited about going back to Galilee- remembering that the Disciples were galileans, besides, it was at galilee that Jesus performed the greatest miracles and exploits. I think it was rather a factor of reaction, not disbelief since they knew the exactitude of Jesus` predictions.

Why do you think Peter was so emphatic and yet so wrong about denying Jesus?
Hello dear friends, Surely if it was you or me in Peter`s shoes we would most likely do the same by that time. You see when akid is with the father, he feels like his father is the strongest man in the whole world and nobody can challenge him. When you study the period Jesus stayed with these disciples, he performed miracles that could persuade anybody to say anything.Peter didn`t know that Jesus was this serious or that he was going to die because he knew that he`s too powerful to challenge all the gentiles, pharisees and are like who wanted to kill him so he said it from the human point of view.

Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee."
But Peter answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble."
Jesus said to him, "Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you." All of the disciples also said likewise.
