Matthew 3:4 (wild locusts and honey)
Although locusts may be an excellent source of protein, it`s quite possible that John the Baptist actually survived the desert by eating carob beans. Carob as we know it comes from the common Mediterranean shrub ceratonia siliqua - specifically, from the shrub`s seeds, known as locust beans ''although, considering the technology and resources of the time, one wonders if real locusts were any tastier''.

How did (does) repenting prepare someone for the Kingdom of God?
Repentance is a holy and righteous virtue, godly and prompted by the Holy Spirit. Man comes to self actualisation, realising that he is lost, wayward and off God's mark. Man in sin is seperated from God, and is under God's wrath. Repentence is when man turns around to make ammends - putting things right with God- so that the rebellious heart and mind is eroded, and replaced with a heart humble, contrite, and more obedient to God's statutes. This way, fellowship with God is restored through the Work of the Holy Spirit. Repentance therefore restores a broken relationship, and restores fellowship between man and God.

How does repenting prepare someone for the Kingdom of God?
Everytime when I go in the presence of God to repent, i feel light in my body afterwards. It's always like I was carrying a heavy luggage. Repentance renews one's relationship with God, it makes us real children because if you do sin and run away from your own Father, where do expect to find mercy? When you repent, you are 100% sure that the arms of God are open wide to recieve you, because He delights more in righteousness.

Repenting prepares the way

Repenting prepares you for the Kingdom of God because it is the action of a soft heart and a willingness to admit that sin does exist in your life.

With a good conscience toward God, it brings him into your life. This action lets God  know you want to change to be more like his son Jesus. By opening up and repenting, we become more spiritual and less worldly.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying,
"The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
make ready the way of the Lord.
Make his paths straight."
Now John himself wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance! Don't think to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
"Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that doesn't bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."
