I think once Jesus he forgave him he was healed, but because the scribes didnt think that alone would not heal the man.. They wanted to hear Jesus tells the man to get up and walk. which is what he did. Being that Jesus actually said it and it was done. They believed that more.

Jesus knew the paralytic man must have got paralyzed due to the sins he or his ancestors committed. Jesus wanted to communicate to the people that he had authority to forgive sins.

Beacuse the real death we should fear is the one of the soul. The illnesses that affect it are the real worry. Eternal life regards the soul not the body. We are all bound to die and called to bear our crosses.the health of the soul is of paramount importance. If too immersed in the flesh, thats where the `viruses` can attack. If we are overtly immersed in it. It has to be lived, loved and valued in the right perspective as a temporal gift that the lord lovingly granted us.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic

He entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city. Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you."
Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes."
Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?' But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." (then he said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go up to your house."
He arose and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
