How do you explain faith to someone who just doesn`t see it or get it?
Faith is not difficult to explain. It is the simplest thing in the world. (It`s so simple, even young children have faith.) Here`s one way to explain faith. Faith is simply believing something that we don`t actually concretely "see." For example, when you get into an airplane, you believe that the engines will hold the plane up in the air. You believe in aerodynamics even though you might not understand them.

Or, say, if you send a postcard to someone in Swaziland and you`ve never been there nor seen it firsthand, you are believing that there is such a place as Swaziland. But you never personally saw it. You just believe it because you were told or you read about it in books or saw it on TV. Faith is believing. But the difference about faith in Christ and the Bible is that there are many more reasons to believe the Bible is true than there are for flying in an airplane and believing it will remain airborne. There are more reasons to believe in Jesus as the Son of God than could be contained in a book. So, how do you explain that to someone who doesn`t "get it"?

You begin by praying for that person. Then you share parts of the Bible with them (or direct them to JesusCentral.com so they can learn about Jesus). There are also good books that help people grasp faith, such as A Case for Faith by Lee Strobel or More Than A Carpenter by Josh McDowell. In the end, when you`ve prayed for someone, shared Bible truths with them, and directed them to good sources so they can learn more about Jesus, it is their choice whether they want faith or not. If they want faith, they can simply ask God to give them the faith they need to believe. That`s what I did.

I would also encourage someone seeking to understand faith to browse the JesusCentral.com site. It contains rich information and insight.

Who were Jesuss friends?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus said that His friends were those who kept His word, His sayings, and obeyed the things that He commanded (see the Gospel of John chapter 15). He also stated that His disciples, followers, were His friends. This includes the twelve disciples closest to Him, and those who were not included in that twelve such as Martha, Mary, Lazarus. Several women were also His friends in a sisterly way and they ministered to Him i.e. they would have helped Him with meals, sowing needs and such like. Their names were Susanna, Joanna, Mary (We see this in Luke 8:3). Those who follow Jesus are His friends—and the New Testament makes it clear that this includes those who follow Him today by obeying Him.

Where did Jesus get the power to do miracles?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus performed miracles from the power He received from His heavenly Father. He was one – in oneness or unity – with His Father. He received power from Him to perform miracles. Jesus did miracles through divine power that He received from His Father, God.

Throughout the Gospel of John in the New Testament, Jesus proclaimed that He could do        nothing of Himself but by the will of the Father, by the power of God.

Jesus said, “I can of myself do nothing” (John 5:30).

In John 14:10 of the New Testament Jesus says, “I do not speak of my own authority, of myself: but the Father that lives in me, He does the works.”

The New Testament Bible shows that Jesus did a lot of miracles during his lifetime. Click here to see miracles Jesus did:

What kind of miracles did Jesus do?

Jesus performed many miracles of diverse nature, including:

healing the sick and lame, giving sight to the blind,

raising deceased people from the dead (bringing them back to life),

walking on water and making Peter walk on water,

turning water into wine,

extracting a coin from a fish’s mouth,

supernaturally multiplying five loaves and two fishes to feed 5, 000 hungry people,

replacing and sticking back on a man’s cut off ear,

calming the winds and the waves, calming the storm,

reading people’s thought and hearts,

supernaturally knowing people’s past and present,

making a fig tree whither up,

raising a man called Lazarus back to life after he’d been dead for 4 days and was bound up in grave cloth,

delivering possessed people from demons,

resurrecting Himself from the dead.

The most common miracle Jesus performed—and still performs—is that of healing people of ailments inside and out.

What language did Jesus speak?

On the human level, Jesus would have spoken Hebrew since this was the language of Jews and Israelites. And Aramaic was the language mostly used in the Old Testament Bible.

On the divine level, as the Son of God, Jesus could speak any language He wanted—including Heavenly languages.

Since Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit are linked as One, whatever the Father or the Holy Spirit did, Jesus could do. In the book of the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament Bible, chapter 2, the Holy Spirit allows the apostles to speak in different tongues (or languages). Clearly, if they could do this, so could Jesus. He also spoke freely to the woman of Samaria in the Gospel of John, chapter 4, and it is to be presumed that He spoke in her language.

Why was Jesus born?
According to the Bible, Jesus was born to save mankind from sin (from his disobedience to God, his wrongdoings and wrong thoughts). Jesus was born purposely and with His consent – as God’s unique son – to pay for the sins of mankind by dying in place of mankind, or so that people could be saved from an eternity apart from him.

The Bible explains that Jesus was born to be Savior, and Lord to all who ask Him to take that role in their lives. As such, Jesus shows a better way to live according to the higher law of love, which can be lived only through Him if He first lives in a person’s heart.

The main reason Jesus was born was to die in order that mankind could be saved.

Jesus came to show mankind the way, to show that He is the way to heaven.

Jesus came also to teach mankind about the kingdom of God of which He is the king.

Where does Jesus live?

According to the Bible, Jesus now lives in Heaven with His heavenly Father. He sits at his right hand of the Father. He also lives in the hearts of those who have invited Him in—not in the physical sense, of course, but He indwells those who yielded (surrendered) their hearts to Him through his Holy Spirit.

The New Testament speaks of the mystical indwelling of Jesus through his Spirit.

Read here in John 3 the narration of Jesus speaking to Nicodemus about “being born again”—a synonymous expression considered by followers of Jesus to mean the same thing as to invite Jesus into one’s heart.

Where did Jesus live?
The Bible shows that Jesus lived in the Middle East, mostly Israel. This is seen in both the New Testament which historicizes and recounts Jesus’ life, but also in the Old Testament Bible which points to the coming Messiah and shows where He would live.
The New Testament Bible shows that when Jesus was a small child He lived with His parents in Egypt where they were escaping Herrod’s army who wanted to kill all little boys under the age of 2. Then He lived in Nazareth with His birth mother, Mary, and His adoptive father, Joseph. He lived in an ordinary, humble home, in poverty.

Click here to read that Jesus was brought up in Nazareth:

Jesus lived and ministered in Judea, Galilee, Jerusalem in Northern Israel. Click here to see a map: http://www.jesuscentral.com/ji/GIFS/palestine100.gif

The New Testament Bible depicts Jesus as an adult traveling, teaching, preaching, healing and ministering and shows that He had no set place to lay His head. His travels took him to the countries and towns surrounding Jerusalem, including Samaria, Jordan, Perea, Caperneum. Click here for more details:
