Finances: How has Jesus helped you
My husband and I always struggled with jobs..he worked for himself.. But Jesus ALWAYS came through for us. We never went without... now my husband passed away four months ago and I am standing firm that Jesus will see me and my daughter through... I know he will help us because he said he would, and also he always has. I thank God that I know him and can rely on him though anything. I love him sooo much.

Jesus said I have a plan for you. A plan to prosper you and not do destroy you. Jesus wants each and everyone of us to be succesful. Unless we believe and have faith in HIM these things will not happen. There is no way that Jesus wants us to be poor even though HE had nothing. I LOVE JESUS and HE is the answer to all my problems. I beleive that it is just a matter of time before they are all gone.

Great discussion everyone. I wanted to interject a thought into the dialogue. It’s been my experience that financial problems usually don’t happen overnight nor do they get resolved overnight. Jesus had many things to say about managing the resources we are given well. If we are faithful with managing little things we will be given more to manage. Naturally this involves financial management. Yet, this isn’t meant to generate guilt or shame for where we’ve failed. We all make mistakes and God is gracious and kind to forgive us and restore us in those areas. An important principle with finances is accountability. We all have faults and blind spots and so if we have a weakness in an area we need to bring others who have strengths to help us in our areas of weakness. If you have an area of weakness and don’t expose it to others, you will be trapped in your weakness. If you make that area fully transparent to others who can help you in that area, you overcome your weakness through accountability and community. So, if anyone is struggling in the area of finances, I strongly suggest that you get someone involved in helping you with it (over the long haul) who has experience and strength in financial management.

Oh I just love these conversations! You all have such valuable things to share. Thanks to everyone for making a difference in my life. My husband and I have had a lot of financial challenges in the last couple of years. We got caught up in all the mortgage problems plaguing our country. We lost our home and had to move into something smaller and cheaper that we are renting. I was devastated. Our credit report tanked and that caused me all kinds of sleepless nights. But just like God, he turned it all around for our good. We were able to make some changes and now we are in better shape than ever. I came to realize that I was trusting in our jobs (we both work), our home and our credit report more than we are trusting in God. Now that my world was turned upside down and we came through it and life is still good, I learned that God really does love me. God really is taking care of me. He is involved in my life. He is doing things unseen everyday. When we were in control of our life, it was hard to experience God’s goodness. But, when our lives were shaken, there was God right in the middle of it taking care of us. I learned that when I trust in God, it releases him to do miracles in my life. Now I don’t want to experience difficulty any more than necessary but I know that God works all things for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purposes.

I hope its okay to tell everyone that I used to be a shop-a-oholic. No matter how much money I made, I always spent more. I could spend all my time shopping. But, it didn’t seem to ever fill my needs. It was like an addiction. I just always wanted more. Jesus told people that if they wanted to be rich in heaven for them to sell everything they had and give the money to the poor. He said where your treasure is there is your heart also. My treasures used to be stores and so that is where my heart always was. Don’t you find it interesting that Jesus was interested in people being wealthy. He didn’t tell people that they should want to be poor. Instead he told people that desiring wealth is a wise thing. He told them how to be truly wealthy. One’s wealth isn’t measured by how much one has stored up here in this temporary place. Jesus said you measure wealth based on how much you’ve stored up in eternity. I like Jesus’ investment strategy better than my investment bankers. And when your treasure is stored up in heaven, you don’t have to worry about the troubles on Wall Street.

When my company was almost out of cash, I told Jesus I needed to quit unless I had a contract by the end of the year. At 2pm on December 31, I got the contract. There is no way that would have happened without Jesus' help.
