Judas like every human has his failings or shortcoming. Greed was one of his. He loved Jesus but never thought his betrayal could lead to his death. He never submitted to Jesus to heal him of this vice all the while he was with Christ. He probably thought Jesus would sneak away as he usually does and forgive him afterwards.

Judas anticipated that Jesus would found a new dynasty as a king of the Jews. But he did not expect that Jesus would be both the sevant of every servant of God and King of kings.Lord of Lords, namely God.But you do not yet understand why Jesus chose Judas as one of twelve.Perhaps twelve at first time to a greater or lesser degree would have the same opinion as Judas. It may be that Betray is the work of Devil, but People are puppets of God.
