Meeting Social Needs: When have you put love into action
Whenever I see someone in need and I can help, I do. Whether it is someone just lost here in the city-give directions. When an older woman is trying to carry something heavy-offer to carry. Simple things like that are an everyday thing, that I actually look for to help.

Every time my patience is tested, I over come judgement and realize, "hey, no one is perfect". That is when I'm feeling true love for my fello man or woman.

Love unto action it's a little bit complicated of the fact that we sometimes do not understand the Holy Spirit's voice . So, as far as am concerned , am not putting Love unto action properly and i need help from the Holy Ghost .Amen

Meeting Social Needs: When have you put love into action?
I used to live a block away from a home for mentality or socially challenged people. I started going by once a week and visiting with them. Over time I developed a good relationship with the staff, administrators and manager. They eventually let me take some of the more socially mature ones over to a nearby diary queen for ice cream (my treat). I started doing it because I would drive or walk by their place and see many of the people sitting out on the front porch all the time. It made me sad how they were people outcast from our society left to live out their existence tucked away where they wouldn’t be a bother. It turned into a meaningful part of my life. When I would show up to take them out you would think Santa had just walked through the door. I was life in this otherwise dark place. I’ve since moved away from that city but I think of them often and hope they are doing well. It takes so little to play an important part in people’s lives.

I’ve used to go into a nursery home once a week and visit with the people there. I would just sit and chat with them and they thought I was the greatest. They would chat about all kinds of things. I heard so many funny and touching stories I still remember today. It breaks my heart when I think about all the elderly sitting in their rooms with nothing to do just waiting to die. Many of them have no one who visits them. Many still have a sparkle in their eye and are funny and friendly. If you have an opportunity to develop a nursing home ministry in your church or community I’d suggest trying it at least once. I know one group that brings cats and dogs into a nursing home once a week and the people just love to pet them. They anticipate animal day all week and talk about it expectantly with each other all the time. I’ve met some real characters in my experiences. Give it a try if you can.

This is pretty basic but fitting. I manage a restaurant and interact with lots of people everyday. I make it a point to remember the names of every person who comes into our restaurant with any regularity. People’s faces light up when you call them by name when they step into a restaurant. It makes them feel important. I believe that many people come back so often because I make them feel like a family member. I suspect that many people feel like they don’t matter to anyone. They go throughout their day interacting with people who do little more than carrying out transactions with them. When someone stops the busyness and looks them in the eye and says hi to them using their name, it reminds them that they matter.

A church I used to go to had a ministry where they do what they call servant evangelism. Every Saturday morning they send out teams of people who go out into the community and find ways of meeting a variety of people’s needs. One team fill red wagons full of smoke alarm batteries and light bulbs. They go door to door and offer to check the smoke alarm batteries for people and replace them if needed free of charge. They also replace any burnt out light bulbs in the house. Another team sets up auto mechanics in the church parking lot and any single parents can bring up their cars and these guys will fix them without any service fees (just part costs and they have a program help out special cases with those costs too). Another team brings buckets of soap and water into area restaurants and bars and they offer to clean their public bathrooms free of charge. You should see these groups of people coming in wearing yellow latex dish washing gloves asking the manager if they would like their bathrooms cleaned for them. The stares are priceless. Another team of people go to the local shopping mall and hand out water bottles and soft drinks to people coming out of the mall on hot days. They don’t accept tips and when asked why they are doing it they simply say the wanted to give a practical example of God’s love for them. They don’t preach or hand out tracts, ask people to visit their church or anything like that. They’ve had a lot of people walk through their church doors wondering what was going on in these people’s lives to cause them to do such things.
