Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

God is love. God is righteous and He cannot tolerate with sin. Knowing that human is unable to fulfill the 10 commandments, He has to send His own son to die in our place for us.. so that by having faith in Christ Jesus.. we became the righteous in Christ (the commandments are fulfilled through faith in Christ).

It's not that Jesus intended the penalty for "sin" to include both the physical and emotional pain (God is love). However pain and suffering is inevitable (byproduct) as we're living in a fallen world. The good news is, love and grace from above is available for those who have come back to the Father.

Jesus was the sacrificial lamb and suffered for our sins.  He took away our sins.  As we are, Jesus was human, so in order to truly suffer for the sins committed by us, the emotional and physical aspect were necessary.

Where are there in the Bible, thesis(1)spiritual separation from God is the heaviest sacrifice which Jesus pays of behalf of mankind,thesis(2) mankind does not need to suffer spiritual separation fom God? Are both of them dogmatic thesis or Biblical idea?
