What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?
The Jews held much distrust and often hatred for the Roman Empire ? they were unwilling subjects. At the time of Jesus' birth, the local Roman ruler, King Herod had initiated a massacre of all Jewish baby boys born at the time. Herod was also responsible for placing forbidden idols within the Jewish temple. Such actions added more reasons for Jewish resentment of the foreign Roman government. Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
I think that each person is a whole person - of spirit, body and mind. Therefore for Jesus to show that he had done a COMPLETE work of salvation for us, he had to experience the pain and suffering in all the aspects of being a person. He suffered in every aspect of life, that also affects us and and where there are struggles, so when we receive His gift of salvation, it is complete - spiritual, bodily, and emotionally- we are totally free. Jesus` penalty for sin included physical and emotional pain because He came as God`s only begotten Son in the flesh and flesh is vulnerable to physical and emotional pain. By: Patty Category: Jesus` Last Words, Final Hours on Cross and Jesus` Death

Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
Absolutely! He was fulfilling the prophesies of the Old Testament just the way He was born to do. I STILL don`t understand why the Jews refuse to this day to recognize Him as the Messiah. Can anybody tell me why? By: Patty Category: Final Week of Jesus

Which of these purposes do you believe Jesus accomplished?
In dying on the cross for our salvation, Jesus accomplished His divine mission. I am able to have hope for an eternal life today because I believe this to be true and because I am trying to live a righteous life like Jesus wants us all to. Thank You, Jesus!!! How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him? a New commandment?
If I am obedient to Jesus and obey His commandments, He will know I love Him and He will show Himself to me. By loving one another, we are loving Jesus. By: Patty Category: Invite Me to be Close to You - Jesus

If you had a one-on-one meal with Jesus, what would you discuss?
If I were able to speak, ''because I expect I would be incredibly awestruck'', I would bow down on my knees and I would worship and praise Him first and most of all. I would tell Jesus how I wish I could be a better person and how I want to be more like Him more than anything in this whole world. I would tell Him how His death on the cross has affected my life and How much I love Him for that awesome and amazing sacrifice. I would tell Jesus how sorry I am that a lot of people today just don`t get it and I would ask Him to help me to reach them for Him. I would beg His forgiveness for all the years I walked in darkness like they do now and I would thank Him for His wonderful understanding and Love. I would ask Him to forgive us all and help us all to understand that until we all come together in worship and praise and love, this world will continue on it`s path of self-destruction. I would tell Him I love Him. And I love you, too, whoever and wherever you are. Please feel free to contact me to rejoice in our many blessings!
