Why did Jesusī penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus had to suffer physical and emotional pain as he was fully human and had to undergo the same pain that any other ordinary human being has to suffer when they commit sin. If not so Jesus wouldnt have understood the experience of being human.

" ...and the spirit was made flesh". so Jesus was God in human flesh. Besides, the atonement of sin needs to be both spiritual and physical. this is why our savior Jesus included both physical and emotional pain.

its a sacrifice that he made to show to all man, to suffer physically that even the roman soldier witness and believed that he is the son of God. F

Jesus penalty for Sin
Jesus knew he would suffer harshly, so we might know and fill in our hearts the pain Jesus went through so we could be set free of all sin and suffering by the blood of Jesus on the cross.

In my own opinion, Jesus need to feel the physical and emotional in able to understand what truly means of sacrifice.Truly meaning of sacrifice not for His own good but also for those people who have earthly sin which need to feel the same pain in able to appreciate the Power of God loves.

Jesus was both God and Man,He had to draw all sin to himself thus experiencing physical and spiritual pain and anguish.Jesus died for our sins and was resurected in Victory over death and hell.

The scripture should be fulfilled from the book of Isaiah 53:5"But he was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we, are healed".

In order for Jesus to complete His mission, He had to endure physical and emotion pain. He was already spiritually connected to God and came to die for our sins. For Him to be touched with our infirmities, He had to experience them. Thank God for sending His son.

BECAUSE HE ALSO HAD THE HUMAN NATURE, HE HAD TO UNDERGO SUCH PAINS. ALSO BECAUSE HE KNEW THE HEARTS OF MEN SO HE HAD TO SHOW US HOW MUCH HE LOVED US, AND THAT WE SHOULD ALSO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOURS AS HE HAS LOVED US TO THE POINT OF UNDERGOING SO MUCH PAIN AND SUFFER DEATH FOR US.
