Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Because our sins separate us from God not only spiritually but also physically. Once our ancestors - Adam and Eve - were driven out of the Garden of Eden, we have been separated from God entirely. If Jesus wants to reconciliate human beings with God, his penalty must include all pains produced by our sins so that he can save the whole of each of us. Moreover, on the Last Day, dead bodies will be raised, that is, our bodies will be redempted, and the raised is imperishable. If Jesus panalty for sin didn't include physical pain, our bodies would no way be resurrected. What a disaster that would be!

... because after all He is a human being, with feelings and emotions, just like us... He is God, in the human form.

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
I think not Jesus incited to his death but perhaps he incited the time of his death. He would die as the prophecy had foretold and he would fulfill the prophecy in the grace of God and to save us. Far before the very day he was crucified, people who were against him had tried to kill him. But only on that Friday he was finally killed and before that there was the preparation and after that there was resurrection, when it was Sunday, the first day of the week, on which God had created light, and as Jesus told us, he is the Light.

How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him?" a "New" commandment?
Obedience to Jesus is to have Him as our hearts and our heads, and to let Him reign all over each of us. And this heart-to-heart status leads to intimacy to Him.

If you had a one-on-one meal with Jesus, what would you discuss?
I would ask Him "Lord Jesus, what shall I do to be like you? And what shall I do to be fully filled with the Holy Spirit?" and quietly and carefully hear Him.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Satan is the god of the physical realm - Matt.4:8-9 therefore, for the mission of Jesus to complete, He had to suffer physical and emotional pain with which the devil oppresses one. Without condemning the body which react to physical & emotional pain, death will not be possible and Salvation will not be.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Because JESUS was/IS "Fully GOD & Fully Human." He was in Genesis "In(John1:1-5) The WORD became Flesh." JESUS was more concerned about HIS 'Moment' of Seperation from HIS Father as WE should be.

I hope physical and emotional pain were subjected to Jesus, because he was send to this world in both human and spiritual form to accomplish a task of saving mankind from spiritual separation they had with GOD. Also this will enable mankind that, realy Jesus was the one send to save them because he posses both spiritual and physical form and they will accept that through this suffering ,GOD as acepted them back and the bridge separating them as been connected through this sufferings.
