"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
No way. He did nothing to deserve the punishment. He was sinless from the very begining of conception.

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)

Jesus Christ showed us how to live a life full of compassion, love, mercy, grace, holiness, and righteousness... Certain provoking events like the temple cleansing and attacks on the pharisees, saducees and scribes was due to the sin and their sinful ways imbedded in their life, a life meant to be holy and righteous.

The Father's love for our sin, and our sinful condition brought Jesus to the cross...our sin, in this fallen world nailed God's Son on the cross, placed his dead body in a grave...But He came back from the dead, He resurrected, having paid for our sins, He was victorious over death...the curse that plagues this world.

"Which of these purposes do you believe Jesus accomplished?"

I think that Jesus Christ accomplished all of the purposes written and a lot more...all of which are compromised in bringing and inaugurating the Kingdom of God.  Jesus Christ came to save  us, free us, guide us, transform us, justify us, pardon us, and making a way to receive us in His Kingdom..

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)

Jesus Christ knew before hand that he was going to die.His father sent him for a purpose and he knew he had to accomplish this purpose. His purpose was dying on the cross for our sins. His dead was a fulfillment of the holy scripture(Bible).

That was why the Lord God after Adam and Eve sin in the Garden of Eden,God had to have mercy again on mankind and that is why he send his only begotten son to come and die on the cross for sins.Jesus knew fully well was going to die, that is why he had to submit himself to die.He said no one can take away his life. That was why when died rose again from dead after three days.God bless you.i will ask my own next time.

Do unto others . . .

I LOVE this! I really enjoy doing things for others. What's even better is when I surprise people with something for them. Maybe I'm weird but I get a buzz out of it! One of my favorite things is when we go to a friends for lunch. They have 4 daughters. I make (from scratch, yes creaming the butter and sugar and sifting the flour type scratch) 2 lemon meringue pies (one to have there and one to leave for them) plus biscuits. I'm not a cook by any stretch of the imagination and as a rule don't like cooking but I do think about my friends and their girls when I'm making the treats and how much they'll enjoy it.

I think God calls this a 'new' commandment because it's so foreign to so many people - loving your neighbor, doing something for others. I think most people would say "Why should I do something for someone else? What have they done for me?"

For me, it's like giving my heart some really great nourishment. It's like I can literally feel my heart soften and overflow with joy. I don't think there's a better way to nurture and nourish your heart!

One great story here (in Australia) recently was of a 101 great grandmother who had won some money at bingo. Some kids went to her place and robbed her. They didn't hurt her physically but emotionally she was quite upset. The wonderful part is the generosity of so many people - a security company said they'd make her place secure for free, people gave money, etc. etc. I don't know if there's anyone else out there who cries over such wonderful stories? People helping people (and animals) - this is why it's great to be alive.

A Meal with Jesus and Intimacy
WOW! Wouldn't you just be over the moon to be able to do this? A meal with my favorite Role Model! It would probably leave me speechless! If I could speak, I'd probably ask about what I could do better (I don't know if I'd want to ask about how I've done so far - I think I'd cry knowing how miserably I've failed). I would DEFINITELY thank Jesus to the point of my embarrassment (and beyond)! I'd probably want to know how he felt knowing that he was going to die - I guess it would be bittersweet? Being the one God has chosen to save humanity - how many of us would have said yes to that! But he did it without question. As far as intimacy goes - I think the more you get to know Jesus, the more you WANT to be obedient. Okay, we've all given our excuses at times why we haven't been obedient but in our hearts we KNOW that God knows what's best for us.

For God so loved the world . . .
This is my favorite bible verse (well, Psalm 23 and Matthew 7:7 as well). This verse can make me cry when I think about a Father sacrificing His Son. Jesus is a dutiful son in fulfilling what God has asked him to do. He doesn't complain, he doesn't argue, he KNOWS what he has to do and just DOES IT! How many of us try to get out of doing things because it's too hard or we just plain don't want to do it? My decisions are always made easier when I think about what Jesus would do! YES, Jesus did do what he was sent here to do. THANK GOD!
