Why is religious hypocrisy so offensive to Jesus?

because religiosity kills, and this is what Jesus tried and succeeded at that time more fighting today is no different, people like to appear on Tuesday like festivals and places of worship still happens in current times!

Why did Jesus seem to discourage the Scribe and the disciple from following Him? Didn`t He want these two to join Him?

This verse jesus wanted to show that it is more important seek the kingdom of heaven than metier everyday, but it's sure jesus wished that these two men are together with him, but the men who own barriers placed in its own way.

In what ways is it better to have the Holy Spirit with us, than to have Jesus` physical presence on earth?

Its the same thing,if we have the father of course we gotta to have the son and holy spirit.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

because its easy scape of sin,and need have a penalty for the sin what has committed

no,never,but his mission was complete by the father,and him has completed .
