November 22, 2008 Meeting Social Needs: When have you put love into action?
This is pretty basic but fitting. I manage a restaurant and interact with lots of people everyday. I make it a point to remember the names of every person who comes into our restaurant with any regularity. People’s faces light up when you call them by name when they step into a restaurant. It makes them feel important. I believe that many people come back so often because I make them feel like a family member. I suspect that many people feel like they don’t matter to anyone. They go throughout their day interacting with people who do little more than carrying out transactions with them. When someone stops the busyness and looks them in the eye and says hi to them using their name, it reminds them that they matter.

November 22, 2008 Meeting Mental Needs: When have you put love into action
This may not be quite on topic but I play internet poker for fun. We don’t bet. While we are waiting on others to play their hands, I chat with some of the regulars. I like to ask questions and get people to think and talk about it. It’s a good way to meet people and make friends. It may not be for everybody but it’s a good outlet for my lifestyle.

November 04, 2008 Stress: How has Jesus helped you?
Western cultures like America are focused so much on time and this makes life less happy. Eastern cultures are more focused on togetherness. Putting people before time is a happier way to live life. I think Jesus put people before things. He seems to give of himself freely to care for the needs of people. So many Christians do not behave like Jesus. They seem to miss all his points. I think it is possible to be a Christian and be like Jesus. I don’t think Christians should be so different than Jesus. Please tell me whether you agree.

November 04, 2008 Relational Conflict: How has Jesus helped you
An important thing I have discovered about good relationships is that honor and dignity are very important. My father taught me this growing up and when I read the teachings of Jesus, I see the same ideas. He taught to honor everyone. Jesus even honored women and this was unusual in his time and nation. If you treat everyone with great honor, it changes their responses to you. I have even seen this change the way people feel about themselves. Many people speak with little honor to people as if they were nothing. Our world would be much better if all people would treat others like themselves. Jesus had great wisdom. I has much to learn from him.

November 04, 2008 Health-Injury: How has Jesus helped you
One of my questions is if there is a good God who created everything and Jesus is who he said he was, why are there so many diseases and birth defects" I have thought this seems to be a big contradiction. What I read about Jesus tells me that he loved people and healed everyone he met with diseases. This makes room for me to think that maybe God sees the bigger picture and uses healthy problems for good. Jesus turned bad things into good and I believe God has taken bad things in my life and turned them into good. So, perhaps God is good despite diseases and illnesses. Perhaps Jesus is God because his behavior seems consistent with what I’ve seen God do in my life. I am still trying to get more understanding of such things. I would like to know what others think about this.
