Showing Love Towards God: When have you put love into action?
I have to say that in less than a year I had a loved one pass away and my boyfriend of many years ended our relationship. It’s been a really hard year. I’ve been reading the Bible – mostly the teachings of Jesus and Psalms and there have been days when I didn’t think I was going to make it but I read something that caused me to realize that there is hope still. Hard times come and go but God is faithful to us through every season of life. I have to say that despite the pain, I felt God’s presence closer to me in this past year than ever before. I wouldn’t want to have to go through all the pain again but I know God’s goodness drew closer to me because of my hurting. I want to say that if you are experiencing some tough times to not give up. There is hope even when you can’t see it, feel it, hear it, smell it or taste it. DON’T GIVE UP! God is good and he will visit you in your time of need and be for you everything you need.

Meeting Emotional Needs: When have you put love into action?
Debra, I know what you mean about loving on children. I’m a physical therapist and I work with children. I see all kinds and every chance I get I give them a sucker and try to make them laugh. Some have been in accidents and are coming to be for rehabilitation. So, during our sessions, I have lots of physical contact with them. During those times, I ask them questions to see how they are doing emotionally. When something is obvious, I try to encourage them and love on them in simple ways that I hope is making a difference. Maybe I won’t know for sure until I get to heaven but I think I matter to some of these kids more than I realize.

Meeting Physical Needs: When have you put love into action?
Let me talk about how someone recently helped me out. My car broke down and I didn’t have enough money to get it fixed. So, a family in my church lent me one of theirs. They only had 2 and it was a sacrifice for them. During that week every time I got in the car I felt God’s love for me. I could see how he was watching out for me and taking care of my needs. There are times when I wonder it I really matter to God and then in times like this it’s so clear that he loves me. I hope to be able to repay the favor someday and lend to others in practical ways like this. It makes a big difference during hard times.

Meeting Spiritual Needs: When have you put love into action?
I just got through reading William Young’s book The Shack. It really changed my perspective on some things. It helped me get out of some of my old boxes about God and Jesus. It showed me that Jesus is just as much human today as he was when he walked the Earth and yet he is still God too. It made God much more personal to me. I’ve been recommending the book to all my friends because I want to see them come to a deeper understanding of God’s love and kindness. So, that’s how I’ve been expressing spiritual love to those around me. I also found a video where the author was interviewed on CBN that I thought others might enjoy.

Stress: How has Jesus helped you?
Okay I am going to chime in on this one too. I am making some changes right now in my life in this area. The thoughts shared here are some good ones. I think Beverly is right about simplifying. I’m learning to focus my time on what matters most and being okay with not getting everything done that others are doing around me. The question I’m asking myself right now is what is going to matter at the end of my life. What I’m discovering is that people matter. So I’m trying to love a few people in my life really well right now. I believe that is what Jesus would advice me to do.
