when I watched The Passion of the Christ movie, I wondered why did the suferring of Jesus have to be so brutal " Then I thought about all the horrific things people do in this world. Child abuse, rape, murder, greed, hate, blasphemy, genocide, etc etc. I believe God demanded that the punishment fit the crimes. Jesus paid for all our unGodlliness. Our sins were so disgusting. Thank God and the Lord Jesus that we don't have to pay the price, but that Jesus paid it all. We are none worthy, but he made us righteous through his blood. I am thankful for that, because if he hadn't paid it for me, I would have been a hopelesss case.
