Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?

Yes he does and Jesus believes the Lowly people are so valuable because he doesn't value earthly success, prosperity, human skills, or large crowds as we do. Instead, He seeks out the weak and lowly who would best demonstrate His strength and wisdom. As Paul wrote,

"...not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty... that no flesh should glory in His presence.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

Only a few poor shepherds heard the angels' joyous announcement and saw the newborn King. The highly respected men of Jerusalem neither heard nor saw the fulfillment of the long awaited prophesies. Content with their world and committed to their ways, they were oblivious to history's most momentous event!  Our sovereign King -- born into time as Man, risen in eternity as Savior -- doesn't do things our way. His more excellent ways confound the world's most noble dreams and heart-felt sympathies. They always have! Contrary to our feel-good presumption about God, His nature and whatever "new thing" we attribute to Him, His narrow way rarely matches our wide gateways to "success

Why were the Jews so angry that Jesus claimed to exist before Abraham was born?
Because the Jews Felt that Jesus was claiming to be Jehovah God Himself by existing before Abraham. They felt That Jesus was Blaspheming by claiming to be God -- which is exactly what they stated later as the reason for them wanting to kill Him

Define "Compassion"?

Compassion is so important!

For me I recently lost someone I loved very much and Compassion has recently had a new meaning to me.. compassion For me is Mercy and Grace to help me make it through the night! Showing Mercy to myself and others just as the Lord Himself showed mercy to us. Offering comfort and hope to those grieving loss of child, spouse, parents, siblings, missing, suicide, tragedy, divorce, abused. Loss of health, loss of pet, loss of job. Processing grief.

Jesus himself gave us countless examples of compassion. He cared deeply about those in need.

    * He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. Psa 111:4

* But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion. Psa 86:15a
