October 21, 2011 Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
We will never know, but part may be that Jesus was the sacrificial lamb, and when an animal was sacrificied to God, that animal had physical pain. Of course, what Jesus went through was much worse - very long and painful.

He wants us to follow Him and love Him as he loved us. Of course, we all fall astray, but we can keep trying.

If we love one another the way Jesus did and love God, then there is no need for other commandments.
