June 08, 2007 What was the difference between Jesus and the Scribes, in their teaching?
Jesus taught the people as one having authority. The people were astonished at His teachings. Jesus` teaching attracted many people. The words from the mouth of Jesus given joy and peace of mind to the listeners. Those who believed in Him got deliverence from sin and sickness. At the same time, Scribes were also taught the people, but they had no authority. They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear and lay them on men`s shoulders. They are not observing, what they are teaching. They are like blind guides.
This was really a challenging response from Jesus towards the disciples. First, they take it in a worldly way by asking Jesus ``Shall we go and buy for two hundred denarii .....``. Jesus replied by asking ``How many loaves do you have"``. Jesus challenged them to find out from among themselves. Jesus taught us from this passage that we have to bring out whatever we have and submit it to Jesus. Then Jesus will take care of the problem. Here, the disciples taken this, as a challenge saw the miracle. They all ate and satisfied. The mighty name of Jesus also glorified.
Satan is the strong man, his house the body of the demoniac, and his goods the evil spirit within the man. Jesus had entered his house, and robbed him of his goods; and this proved that, instead of being in league with Satan, he had overpowered Satan. Thus Jesus put to shame the Pharisees, and caused the divinity of his miracle to stand out in clearer light than ever. The power of Jesus to dispossess the demon was one of his most convincing credentials, and its meaning now stood forth in its true light.
