What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?

he was vain..didn't want to be identified by association because of what others thought of Jesus. So it is today, people are afraid of what they don't understand or believe.

we should be living the Word of God and spreading that Word to all people, even those that don't believe.

How will we recognize Jesus when He comes again?
We will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
