All you can do is...

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have realised that you have sinned and repented, yet you still feel condemned"

My friends, believe me when I say I have felt your pain many times.  There is a key to happiness and it ccomes in the gift of eternal life and mercy which Jesus gave us on the cross some 2000 years ago!  The key is to ask for God's mercy.  Ask with your whole heart.  Make sure that when you repent, you feel the reality of your confession in your heart and in your soul.  Pray to your God and receive his mercies and then move on.  You cannot unscramble eggs, or turn a cake back into flour and water!  Attempting to remove guilt by over-thinking or attempting to deconstruct it through dwelling on it; will ultimately make you feel worse.  Only God has what is needed to remove your sins.  Acts 3:19-20 NIV says:

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus."

This means that no matter what you have done, if you repent and express your sorrow to the Lord, he WILL heal you and make you new.

The Enemy Part #1

In my Christian life I have discovered that the enemy is absolutely everywhere in the world.  And, it was when I when I lost my way (before I got born again), that I realised this fact.

You see, there is a physical world and there is a spiritual world.  As children of God, I truely believe that we are spiritual beings incased within physical bodies.  God has created us in this way for the same reasons that he placed his only darling son in the world.  We are here to be God's presence and love on the earth.  We are here to spread the good news and share Jesus' love with the people of the world.  But, in doing this we are a direct threat to the enemy.  Satan sees us toiling day and night by God's side and he hates it.  Because we are under the constant protection of the Father, there is not a whole lot that Satan can do to us.  Our spirits are strong!  Our spirits are clothed in the blood of Christ.  He can, however, attempt to attack our physical weaknesses.  One of Satan's favourite places to work is in the environment of our minds.  He likes to pray on our doubts, on our fears and on any areas where we may lack strength. The struggle for us is to overcome our physical fears and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is our vindicator. We may not be perfect, but we are forgiven in Jesus' name! The Bible says that even the sound of Jesus' name makes the demons tremble, so step out in authority and state that "no weapon formed against you shall ever prosper in Jesus name!"

My Friends, I have been a Christian my whole life, but in recent days I found myself looking back at my life and realising that in certain areas of my life, I had fallen away and done things which the world may accept, but Christian life does not. I prayed to God repeatedly and asked for forgiveness, and although I have no doubt that he forgave me, I felt as though I could do more. I went to church and recommitted my life to the Lord. It was a beautiful, life-changing experience. Since then, I have been in constant prayer to God becasue I still feel bad about low places which I allowed myself to fall into, and today I was praying and God spoke to me. He said: "You did these things because of your curiosity, and the enemy used the opportunity to draw you in. You have been a threat to him always and he took that chance to strike you. But, I have forgiven you. Do not allow your guilt to give him something else and keep you from me. Do not try to understand why you sinned, but rather, do not sin in those ways again and you will stay pure always." It was a beautiful thing. It was humbling to feel so blessed in that moment and I take it with me. Has anyone else ever had trouble letting go of past transgressions?

Pressing Towards The Mark
In this world there are two forces.  One is that of the Lord our God, which is force which directs us and pushes us towards God's purpose and the destiny he has in store for us.  The other is that of the enemy.

Jesus will tell you that you are forgiven, no-matter what sins you have committed.  Satan will tell you that you are discusting and you have gone too far to ever be accepted by God again.

Jesus will tell you that you are his people and he will love you and carry you through all of life's problems.  Satan will tell you that you alone, and that you will never have the strength to recover.

Jesus will tell you that greater is he who is within you, than the one who's in the world!

Who will you listen to"

Consider the circumstances surrounding your emotions when you ask God for forgiveness.   Often even though the Lord has set you free and forgiven you, you will continue to feel condemned and filthy.  Why is this"  You see, God forgives, but Satan condemns. Revelations 4:12 calls Satan the "accuser of the bretheran".  He would love nothing more than to make you feel unworthy, but when Satan says you are unworthy, Jesus says:

“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

This is a situation which is merely an example of the struggles which Christians must sometimes face.  My friends, we are in a battle which the enemy has no intention off losing.  They will attempt to stumble you at any opportunity, so be aware of the their tricks.

It's not always going to be easy to receive God's mercies and it's not always going to be easy to fight the enemy, but rest assured that Jesus Christ has already gone before us and made a victory for us.  Fight side by side with the Lord.

Even in Paul's letter to the Philipians, he describes the struggle to move forward from sin and to proceed into righteousness:

"Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philipian 3:13-14)

So take heart, for we are not perfect, and although God is well aware of this fact, we can make it our everyday goal; to try to live as a Chrisitan should.  We must live with dignity, strength, logic, wisdom, love and a peace of spirit.  I leave you with Jesus' final words to us in the flesh.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

Receiving God's Mercy

A large topic on my mind lately has been the fact of God's forgiveness.  I believe that this is one of the strongest defining factors which sets a Christian apart from the world.

Do you know that it doesn't matter where you've been or what you've done.  If you ask the Lord your God for forgiveness, he will wash you in his blood (shed for you) and you will no-longer need to carry that burden.

Some people (myself included) feel that simply apologising is not enough, that they need to drag around miserable and condemned in order to truely "say sorry".  My friends, this is simply not the case.  Realise that it is only becasue we live in a human world that our minds are often this way inclined.  This is the world order of forgiveness.  In the world, sometimes simply saying "I'm sorry" is not enough.  But as Christians we are not part of the world, but of the kingdom of heaven.  God's logic is made clear in the scripture Matthew 18:21:

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me" Seven times"”
“No!” Jesus replied, “seventy times seven!”

By this statement, Jesus was not referring to an exact number, but sating that it does not matter how many times someone wrongs you, we are to forgive them nonetheless.  This is the way of God and this is the exact principle which is exercised when he forgives us.  This does not mean that we are taking God's forgiveness for granted.  Not at all.  B ut rather we understand the that we are all imperfect and we all make mistakes (sometimes more than less), and the love of Jesus Christ extends far beyond grudge and far beyond worldly limitations.  When we apologise to the Lord, we ARE forgiven and we must move forward in victory!

Your thoughts"
