Blog of Che Theophilus Che This is one of the weaknesses of the law that Jesus came to improve on with Grace. The people obeyed the law for fear not as a sensible voluntary obligation. People will stay away from sin only because they are afraid of the consequences of the law not as a moral responsibility not to sin. That is how this matter of the law had eaten so deep in the lives of the reigious leaders hence the reason why they were so upset with Jesus contravening the law instituted for the sabbath. I have learnt that only such disliked men needed to learn from Jesus and use this learning to correct others. Life is an opportunity to learn and Jesus came to rally those who needed learning to come to Him. Such will come to Him in humility and be saved. The proud will never take advantage of this opportunity since they claim to know everything. Thanks to Jesus, I am saved through the same opportunity. Jesus' way is actually new and fresh in many ways: - In Jesus' way, He acts as an example what He expects His followers to do. He teaches by example expecting the followers to do same in His absence. - He demostrates that He came on earth to serve and not to be served. These ways were actually new to the ways of the Pharisees but refreshing, encouraging and comforting to the followers of Christ. The most significant way of Jesus which remains fresh in the lives of Believers is life after death for His followers. Jesus demostrates this by accepting to die, burried and ressurrecting after three days.He ascended into Heaven alive and witnessed by many. Believers of Jesus are certain about what will take place in their lives when they die in Christ. This truth, no doubt the Pharisees and old religious pratice or tradition would question. |
