Why did Jesus choose Matthew, a known taxgatherer and a despised man, to be His disciple?
Jesus was sent here to save the sinners and teach the word of God to those who had not heard the word or those who doubted what they had heard.  Jesus knew that Matthew would also be a teacher of God's word when he saw the light and followed.  A changed man converted to God's way.

Why did Jesus first forgive the paralytic`s sins, and only later heal him? What lesson was he trying to communicate?
If we expect God to perform miracles for us, we must first ask Him to forgive us for our sins and then ask for help.  It is greater to GIVE yourself to God than to RECEIVE.  Give to God and you will be provided for, he will not forget you.

Why did the people ask Jesus to leave, even after He delivered the two demon-possessed men?
They did not have the faith in God and feared that they to might be led to the cliff and into the water.  One has to believe above all else that he has dedicated himself to God and that when your judgement day comes, God will look down favorably on you and accept you into His Heavenly Kingdom.

Jesus, rebuked the disciples for being fearful. How should they have responsed to the storm?
They should have thanked the Lord for everything that he had provided for them, including the boat they were in, and asked him for his safety and guidance.

Why did Jesus seem to discourage the Scribe and the disciple from following Him? Didn`t He want these two to join Him?
Jesus wanted everyone to follow him but only those who were dedicated to God and only God.  If you pledge yourself to God, you will go imediately when called upon.
