Blog of Alex Henderson He knew that Jesus was going to be a great king, but he was thinking of eathly kingship - he felt his position was in danger. To fulfill the words of the prophet.. "Now all this has happened, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet," "that the Scripture may be fulfilled". Jesus knew his destiny, he knew that he had to be betrayed. I don't think he wanted to be crucified, as indicated by what he said "What you do, do quickly." - more importantly though Jesus wanted to do the will of his Father because of his love for Him. To fulfill the prophesy in Zechariah 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey." |
