March 03, 2008 Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
It wasn't ofcourse the way Jesus desired, BUT He had to do this for us to understand. Man's mind doesn't always believe things that are not pictured (that's why He always used parables), man would never repent without something that strongly touches and affects him, which is seeing Jesus tourtured. So it was a stronger evidence that Jesus was ready to give His life for us.
