September 04, 2008 When Peter realised he had denied knowing Jesus, why did he cry?
Peter cried, realizing his little faith, contrary to what he used to profess to Jesus, his great teacher and friend. He cried, watching his faith in action only slip away from his hands. To Peter, one that was so fervent in professing with words his great faith, denying Jesus now meant losing his own self.

June 07, 2008 Why is religious hypocrisy so offensive to Jesus?
Religious hypocrisy is so offensive to Him because it means, doing what is not from God and for God while hiding under God's cap. Religious hypocrisy is those who are called to be His ministers, those most close to His mission, but instead deceive themselves and others since they are not truly ministers but acting to be ones. Being religious is if you want to be great for God is by being the last on this earth. Being the last does not mean being a failure, but being a servant and undergoing penance. Some so-called servants start seeking privileges, because of the robes they wear that show they are of God, therefore exalting themselves. That is religious hypocrisy which deviates to another direction that suits us and not God.

May 04, 2008 How did the woman`s words and action show her faith?
By being a woman and a Canaanite, therefore an outsider in those times, was to her a disadvantage to start with. A respectable man would not even speak to a woman like her. Still the Canaanite went ahead to Jesus. So here Jesus was setting up a lesson to his disciples and testing the faith of the Canaanite. She didn't lose heart and insisted while addressing Him as the Lord, son of David, to have mercy. With humility she recognised Jesus as the master, and therefore her desire was eventually granted.

May 04, 2008 Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
The Pharisees were called blind because their cultic rules were superficial; traditions which had nothing to do with gloryfying God since their hearts was not reaching out to Him. So the Pharisees were unable to keep vigilant on their hearts. According to Jesus, the heart is where all deceit and sin starts hovering.

May 04, 2008 Why did Peter begin to sink when he became afraid? When is it wrong to be afraid?
Matthew 14:22-36 is one of my favourites. Fear is not wrong in itself unless it's on its own. We can start to sink like Peter did, when our fears take over faith, right at the moment that we need faith the most. When the storm is at its worst and stronger, this starts blurring our vision of Jesus, likewise, let us hang on desperately tighter to Him. If we won't achieve that, by asking, Jesus will still come in again to help us get back on track. But how nice would it be if we never let go of Him all along the turmoil!
