Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?

We are called to love one another because we were not born to hate.  It is a learned response to life's experiences. That is why Jesus instructs us to be like the children, pure of heart and mind.

What is the Kingdom of God?
The kingdom of God resides in your heart.  Where your heart is, so is God.  In my prayers I ask God to speak to my heart and let me know how I can help advance his kingdom.  In tryinig to live my life in a Godly fashion I believe I am in his kingdom here on Earth.  And finally, I finish my prayers by thanking God for allowing me to be a soldier for Him.

Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?
Yes, Jesus believes lowly people are valuable because their life's journey is much more hard, and challenging.  They do not have, nor can they afford the luxuries that those who were blessed with have.  This lesson reminds me of the commercial about giving to the poor.  In it they show families in huts with dirt floors, yet they all were shown smiling.  It humbles me every time.

Bless the lowly....

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

That Jesus was considered part of the middle class and not the poor class.

That women, considered second class citizens, were allowed to follow Jesus.
