Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?

It is "New" because it is different from the older rule about "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." Instead of inflicting pain on another person who did the same thing to you, we can show him/her our love and forgiveness.

Loving responses to aggression create a big difference. I've seen it work many times before. Fire cannot be 'doused' with fire. Only love can erase fear that causes plenty of aggression.

It really works.

Define "Compassion"?

Hi there, I would like to connect compassion to some thoughts from a book I found in a random sale. It's called "Revolution in World Missions" by K.P. Yohannan.

Compassion is sharing the good news of salvation to those who are un- or misinformed about it. We share the good news because we know that time is short and people who don't experience the healing power of the good news might (or shall) suffer the consequences of living life without Christ.

As K.P. Johannan put it, "a rice bowl is no substitute for the Gospel." They should go hand-in-hand Ü because dying with a full stomach is different from dying with a full heart. A rich man and a beggar, who are both in spiritual darkness, are said to be in equal footing. Both need the Good News.

If we have compassion for others, we would try to share the Good news to others before it's too late.
