Lord Jesus accomplished all these purposes shown in this lesson. Above all Word became flesh and represented the image of God.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

Sacrifice of animals could not save whole world. God love his special creation that is man and women. God planned to sacrifice himself to save  his creation. God sent his only begoton son in the world in the form of Jesus. Jesus took the sin of all humnity and became sinner himself. Wages of sin is death. According to law of the land and of God,  sinner has to suffer physically and emotionally. God is spirit. Son of God is God. So Jesus is God. He became flesh and entered in the world in the form of Jesus. Hence, it is not possible spiritual sepatation from God. Because Jesus is God and God is spirit.

Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?
Later or sooner Love can win a heart of those who hate you. Jesus loves each and every one of us though we are sinner. He died for us. God so loved the world and sacrified his only begotten son to save the world. Life of Paul was changed. He preahed the same love. Majority of peoples started loving Jesus and follow him due to teaching of Jesus preached by Paul. Many wicked people changed when they realise the love on the Cross. Jesus knows the power of Love. That is why Jesus given a "New" commandment "Love One Another".

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?
In the begining was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with the God in the begining. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
