Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?

Love suffers long, and is kind, love envies not,love vaunts not itseif, love is not puffed up, it does not behave itseif unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked,thinks no evil, rejoices not in inquity but rejoices in the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hope all things, endure all things ( 1 cor 13v4-7).In the old testament,people were known to return evil for evil,and good for good, and not good for evil.if you offend me,i offend you back, if you kill my chicken,i kill your chicken back, evil for evil and good for good.People are ignorance of loving one's enemy, to do good to them,to lend them and expecting nothing in return and that your reward will be in heaven which shall be great and you all shall be the sons of the most High,people are ignorance of these. Under  the grace dispensation, Jesus Christ gave us a new commandment and, that is "LOVE ONE ANOTHER", among these three, faith,hope and love, the greatest of all these is LOVE(1cor13v13)though i speak with the tongues of men and of angel and have not love,i am become as sounding brass, or a thinking cymbal, even i have faith that could remove mountain and have not love i am nothing. So, by showing love to one another, all men will know that you are my disciples. To love, means to humble,as we can see it in the life of Jesus when He washes disciple feet. To love means taking the position of the servant, Jesus said whoever wishes to be first among you shall be the slave of all, He said again,even the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. How does being forgiven increase ones love for God? Note: According to Jesus, God`s forgiveness is motivated by love.
GOD is Love, and He forgives us all our sin because He love us, the bible said, while we are yet a sinner Christ died for us all,it was love that brought Christ to earth, Christ left His glory,mansion, splendor and took it upon Himself willing to come and died for us all. For a friend to suffer for a friend,it means that,that friend loves the other friend so much,Christ said there is no greater love than these for a friend to died for a friend,Christ loves us so much that is why He died for us all. GOD said forgive one another as GOD forgives you,it is a thing of joy to forgive one another,because if you forgive you will have joy, peace of GOD that passes understanding will decend upon you and the love of God will radiate both within us and these will spread around us and we will be able to extend this to other and in return to forgive will increase ones love for GOD, because when we forgive our father in heaven will forgive us, meaning we have obey the word/commandment of GOD, Jesus said that,if you love me, you will keep my commandment, despite all, on the cross, Christ pray for us all,by saying,Father, forgives them for they know not what they are doing. Honestly, being forgiving increases ones love for GOD,so we should learn that her sins which are many have been forgiven, for she loved much, but he who is forgiven little,loves little( luke 7 v 41). What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

What surprises me about the background of Jesus, is His eagerness to study the word of God at early age(12years), He sat in the temple courts,among the teachers,listening to them and asking them questions,and everyone who heard Him was amazed at His understanding and His answers. It touches me and in return i too extend it to my kids to teach them the word of God at early age.

Define "Compassion"?

Compassion means heartfelt, deeply moved from the bottom of the heart, a sincere love that is not common but can be seen among those that have fear of the Lord or whom God had touch,this type of compassion is not eyeservice or pretentious kind of love, is something that is above human understanding but devine.
