it seems to me that compassion is not onlyknowing the pain that one is going thru, but also a willingness to try and do something about it. it appears to be an understanding of one's feelings, enough that you actually feel some of the feelings that that person is going thru.

That there were other children in his family and that women were considered a very real part of His life.
