February 12, 2008 One question was asked concerning the abundant life spoken of in John 10:10-just what is that? Jesus says he came to give us abundant llife, but how do we begin to live it?We begin by looking at God's standard, His commands, and His law to find that we have not obeyed them perfectly and have fallen short of keeping them. Sin is darkness. It darkens our understanding and ruins our living. Jesus said: "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."-John 8:12. John 10:10-"... I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full". This means a changed life from sin to righteousness, the fruit of the Spirit instead of the works of the flesh. We need to be reborn spiritually. We live this abundant(full)life by knowing God intimately, trusting Him, having faith to live in a fallen world, yet we can trust God who is watching over us. We have hope for today no matter what may happen and hope for our future. We can love God who gave the ultimate sacrifice in laying down the life of His human body to save us from the penalty of our sins, and because of this new life, love is indwelled in us that we are also able to love people in a greater manner, even those we may not know. |
