May 21, 2007 Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?I don`t understand the need for pain, but the Bible predicts that he must die, and a just and righteous God cannot overlook evil. His painful death helps us understand the extent of His love and commitment to His mission. |

May 13, 2007 on Jesus` purposeThe fact that Jesus knew his purpose, and was so confident in his purpose, is one of the most convincing characteristics that point to his divinity, over and above any other great political leader. He knew he came to serve, to save humankind, to help us understand the kingdom of God, and that his life was leading to his awful death. He knew this, was confident about it, and led a life that was perfectly consistent with these purposes. |

April 13, 2007 What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?I wasn`t aware that traveling teachers was a common profession, with daily needs provided by the audience. It makes sense Jesus switched to this role when he began his public ministry. |
