Jesus was born 2000 years ago in a town called Bethlehem and lived his first 30 years working as a carpenter in Nazareth.
In his thirties he began his public teaching over a 3 year period. He claimed that he was the son of God, which was a direct violation of the Jewish law. As a result the religious leaders were planing to get rid of him. They persuaded then a Roman governor, Pilot to authorize an execution.
Jesus was brutally tortured and nailed to a wooden cross and died after three hours of agonizing pain & suffering.
He rose from the dead after three days and appeared to more than 500 witnesses including his disciples. After 40 days he was taken up alive to heaven.
As a result of all these miraculous events, his followers increased in number. Within a short period of time his teachings and message of salvation spread all across the earth.
