February 19, 2009 Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus was a whole person and the physical and emotional are not separate from the spiritual. All of him had to die that all of us could receive true life in Him. What a blessing!

February 16, 2009 "Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
Jesus was staying true to His divine nature - loving at all times and fulfilling the law and thus entered persecution and death because of our sin. He knew that He would have to die and yet openly struggled to embrace His Father's will. His life was the message we follow today.

February 12, 2009 "Which of these purposes do you believe Jesus accomplished?"
Jesus accomplished all of those purposes but we have difficulty embracing them through His wonderful power. His grace waits for us and we, like little children, grow and wrestle with receiving His great love and great news. At times, we see His sacrifice and learn to serve. It truly is a journey.

February 10, 2009 If you had a one-on-one meal with Jesus, what would you discuss?
If I had a personal meal with Jesus, I'd probably ask about his views on war and justice and suffering, as well as how he answered my prayers (I'm sure I missed his answers at times).

February 05, 2009 Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?
I think that Jesus may have called it a "New" commandment because the Jews saw love and service primarily to their fellow people. Now Jesus was making the call to love universal and even toward their enemies.
