September 14, 2007 Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
I believe that Jesus had to suffer physical and emotional pain so the witnesses could actually believe that he was the Son of God - came to earth - and died for our sins. People actually saw Jesus suffer excrutiating pain and suffering. Even Roman soldiers recognized this. I don't believe they, or many others would have truly believe that Jesus was the Son of God if He did not suffer and die like He did.

I don't think that Jesus was trying to incite his death. He knew that He was place on earth to die for our sins. Death was inevitable, regardless of what He did.

I would have many questions for Jesus - but I guess the first questions would be about sin, prayer, and forgiveness. How do these tie together and how does He feel about them. Also, how come tragic things happen to good people"
