I believe that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the final sacrifice for my sin. For that, it is natural to love Jesus. He sacrificed so that I might have eternal life. But my response is not to end with just love out of appreciation, but rather, Jesus states that my expression of love should be obedience. According to John 14 I am called to keep His word, keep His commandments. John 10 adds further to what my expression of love ought to include. I am to be known by Jesus. That requires a relationship. John 3 shows me that the relationship works both ways. I am to know Jesus and in knowing Him I become more acutely aware of His love for me. What beautiful, peace-giving knowledge.
