Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?
They are the most vulnerable and needy.  No one wants to hang with them; they can't return favors since they have nothing or very little.  Yet when you help someone who can only be grateful, God is grateful and remembers You on the Day of Judgment.  Upon accepting Jesus, your sins are forgiven and your good deeds will be rewarded forever with Him.  Taking care of the needy is what Jesus would do.  It is love in action.

Romans

There were 400 years between the Old and New Testaments, during which time God used the Romans to build roads and made Greek an almost universal language in the middle east so that when Jesus was ready to began preaching and saving jews and gentiles alike they could travel more easier than before and be understood.

By the way, the Bible doesn't say how many brother Jesus had, but James who wrote the book was one of them.  Of course Joseph was James' father and Jesus is the Son of God, being God incarnate.

Jesus' Brothers
Jesus did have a number of brothers; the number is not known through scripture.  However, I thank the Book James in the Bible is written by his brother, if I'm not mistaken.  Obviously, He is the Son of God and the others are the sons of Joseph.

Jesus' Life
Jesus fulfilled prophecies from the Old Testament, so many that only He could be the One True Messiah, such as in death no bones would be broken.  Usually after drawn out suffering on the cross, the legs were broken of the condemned so they would smother and die.  He was also born of a virgin and is truly God incarnate.  He walked among us and did not sin, ever.  He took our sins upon Himself and will continue to do so forever.  In the Bible Jesus showed he was God's Son through his actions, not His words.  Usually others would ask Him "are you the Son of God"" and He would answer "That's what you say."  He spoke truth during His 33 years of life that rings true and applicable today.  The quotes of His included in this week's study contain parables or stories that let us know how He wants us to treat one another.  Serving Jesus is serving others, especially those who are lost and need His salvation.  Jesus wants all His sheep back with Him, the Shepherd, to spend eternity with Him.  God can't stand sin and we must be sinless before Him.  Jesus took our sin so that we may be with God for eternity.
