Why was Jesus so willing, even eager, to heal the leper?
Because the leper came to him full of belief and "knocked" on the door of JESUS. JESUS answers the call of all who seek him and are willing to be cleansed (physically, mentally, spiritually, etc.).

Since we have God`s promise of support, why do we still worry?
Sadly, because we are weak in faith. If GOD doesn't answer our prayers on our terms then we think he's not paying attention. What we fail to realize is GOD will answer our prayers but by his will and timeframe.

Why is giving in secret more to be commended that giving where people can see it?
Because there can  be no mistaken the fact that the act is genuine and done from the heart. When people see it there is also some doubt as to whether the act is truly genuine.

What makes it so difficult to love our enemies? Bonus Question: What happens when we love our enemies?

I suspect when someone wrongs us or acts in a manner that is so offensive that we become distant to that individual for obvious reasons. Often times, we do everything possible to avoid any potential confrontation or opportunity to discuss how we really feel, getting to the root cause of the issue between the two parties.

When we love our enemies, we often find that a greater love and peace will come into our lives for venturing out into a situation of vulnerability that we don't usually reach to ascertain.

Why did Jesus instruct his followers to react passively when attacked?

Because one is measured by what's in his/her heart. By acting passively, with greater love, understanding, patience and tolerance we strive to be closer to the LORD and his guiding principles.

Hostility, anger and retaliation are all feelings that stem from an evil thought or origin. JESUS doesn't want us to be robbed of the joy the LORD blesses us with daily. This is why he led by example and taught us in the following manner.
