Why do you think Peter denied Jesus?
Peter denied JESUS basically out of fear. He new there were certain dangers (specifically the safety of his own life) which was the primary reason for the denial. Actually, it is a very humanistic response or reaction.

How did Jesus` death benefit people?
From one perspective, it helped quiet the rioting and it restored a certain order to the territory, which is exactly what the Jewish leaders wanted in fear of the Romans. From another and much more significant & historical perspective, JESUS' death symbolizes that we would be forgiven of our sins and able to have eternal life. It also meant that we would be able to receive the holy spirit, the holy eucharist and be joined to the Father as the living body of Christ.

Jesus sends his disciples into the world for what purpose?
To spread the good news and the truth of the word. We are all disciples of JESUS who are called to do the same.

What point is Jesus making when He states "eternal life" is knowing the Father and Jesus Christ?
I believe JESUS is commenting on the fact that he was brought into the world to save us from sin so we could have eternal life, that is if we invite him into our hearts and follow his teachings which all originate from the FATHER. Inviting JESUS is equivilent to inviting the FATHER which means eternal life for all who seek or welcome it.

In what ways is it better to have the Holy Spirit with us, than to have Jesus` physical presence on earth?
I beleive if I recall correctly JESUS mentions to his disciples that he needs to fulfill his destiny in order for them to receive the blessings of the Holy Spirit. Without this sacrifice, I'm not sure the Holy Spirit would be available to help us towards the path of salvation.
