Why did the high priest view it as blasphemy when Jesus acknowledged that he was the Christ, the Son of God?
In the first place, they found Jesus with no any falt but they continued giving force tesmonies against Jesus. When Jesus aknowledge that He was Christ, the son of man, the high priest was not happy because it was against Jewish law.In addition, anybody at this point in time was not given power to enter in the holy of holies apart from passing their problems ''needs''through the high priest. When the priest tore up the cloth, it means that with Jesus , we are given power to speak direct to God. As believers, we are the priest . With Jesus , we are more than coqueres.

can someone help me understand the question i dont et the part it sais why did the high priest view it as blasphmey i dont get it to me it sounds non sense since i dont know exactly what blasphemy means...please help,god bless.

Why did the high priest view it as blasphemy when Jesus acknowledged that he was the Christ, the Son of God?
The high priest had never heard anyone claim to be the Son of God. He was not a believer of Jesus and His teachings, so for Jesus to claim to be the Christ was blasphemy to him.

The high priest and others viewed it as blasphemy because they were looking for ways to trap him (Jesus). Also to compare youself to the king was considered wrong or tho say that you were God's son was wrong.

Peter denied knowing Jesus because of his human fraility. He had seen Jesus arrested and was afraid that he would suffer the same fate. He also denied Jesus for fear of beign arrested and killed

Blasphemy is saying things against God or likening yourself to the Messiah. It is also proclaiming that you can and will do things that go against the religious teachings of the day.

they belived that the messia will put an end to the slavery that the jews are in. and give them the promessed land. Jesus in their eyes was not exactly what they have been waiting for. so when jesus told them i am he, that wasd just an excuse to find him guilty of a crime.

He who sits at the Right Hand of God, is the one who leads us all to where we should go!!! TO follow Jesus and God and the Holy Ghost is to want and cherish the Holy Trinity`s place in our lives!!!! We must all try very hard to understand the faith, hope, love and peace the Trinity presents to us!!! As Christians, wether we falter or not, it is still up to us to keep our nose to the grindstone!!!!! Amen!!!!!

Before the Sanhedrin

Those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. But Peter followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end. Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death; and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward, and said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'"
The high priest stood up, and said to him, "Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?" But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, "I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God."
Jesus said to him, "You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky."
Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. What do you think?"
They answered, "He is worthy of death!" Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him, saying, "Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who hit you?"
